MUSIC: Philadelphia Orchestra @ SPAC, Saratoga Springs. Béla Fleck, widely considered to be the premiere banjo player in the world and the winner of 15 Grammy Awards, performs the Saratoga premiere of his Concerto for Banjo – one of the first written for the instrument. 8pm.

MUSIC: Nick Lowe @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Basher is back. Nick Lowe is a seriously influential producer (Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, Pretenders, the Damned), songwriter (“(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding,” “I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock ‘n’ Roll)”) and dynamic performer (“Cruel to Be Kind,” “So It Goes”).
