There have been some changes to the line-up of bands at PearlPalooza, the free street fest on North Pearl Street in Albany on Saturday, September 28…

Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, two of the festival’s headlining bands – the Dirty Heads and Palma Violets – have been forced to cancel their PearlPalooza appearances.

Post continues below...

But… sponsoring radio station WEQX-FM has announced a new headliner – Portugal. The Man.

Yes, the band was just in town in May playing a short acoustic show at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen to preview their album, Evil Friends, produced by Danger Mouse. But now they’re coming back for a full show. And it’s free…

Also added to the PearlPalooza line-up are British/Spanish alt-dance band Crystal Fighters, in support of their new album Cave Rave. Their uptempo, progressive dance music is fused with the melodies and dances of traditional Basque folk, alongside synthesisers, bass-driven funk and beats inspired by early ’80s Spanish punk and experimental electronica.

The rest of the previously announced line-up of bands for PearlPalooza remains intact, including Said the Whale, Cayucas and Gentlemen Hall on the main stage, and Local 518 favorites Eastbound Jesus, Wild Adriatic, Stellar Young and Titanics on the second stage.

Also WEQX has announced that they’re offering a limited number of VIP tickets for $20, which give you access to a private area right in front of the stage and a private bar. Meaning that you’ll have a spot right up front and don’t have to worry about losing it when you need another drink.
