THEATER: Cirque Éloize @ Proctors, Schenectady. The Montreal performance troupe presents the North American premiere of “Cirkopolis,” combining the world of circus, dance and theater into one breathtaking show. 7pm. $20, $30, $40, $50 & $65. Through August 24.

MUSIC: Veena & Devesh Chandra @ The Empire State Plaza at The Egg, Albany. The Made in the Shade of The Egg concert series concludes with Indian classical music on sitar and tabla. 12noon. FREE.

MUSIC: Philadelphia Orchestra @ SPAC, Saratoga Springs. It’s opening night of the orchestra’s annual summer residency. Conducted by Stéphane Denève with special guest violinist Gil Shaham. 8pm.

MUSIC: The Evens @ Basilica Hudson, Hudson. The Evens are a Washington, D.C. indie-rock duo, formed in the fall of 2001, featuring guitarist-vocalist Ian MacKaye (of Fugazi, formerly of Minor Threat) and drummer-vocalist Amy Farina (formerly of The Warmers). 8pm. $6.

READING: Poetry Open Mic @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. With featured reader Joseph Bruchac, award-winning author of children’s books, poetry and novels, as well as a scholar of Native American culture. 7pm. $5.

FILM: “Evocateur: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie” @ the Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. A one-night-only screening of the documentary about the Godfather of Trash TV, followed by a Q&A with co-director Jeremy Newberger. 7pm.

Creative Place International presents the world premiere of Mary Jane Hansen’s new play with music that all comes together in an entertaining evening of history, comedy and music from Saratoga’s Victorian age. 8pm. $25. MUSIC: Amphion String Quartet @ the Farmers’ Museum, Cooperstown.
