Blues Band Showdown Winner Announced

The Capital Region Blues Network hosted their second annual Blues Band Showdown at WAMC-FM’s The Linda in Albany last Saturday evening (August 3). And once again, Joe Lowry & the Second Mile Blues Band emerged as the winners.

Three bands – all trios – competed for the top honors on Saturday, including Holly & Evan and Jimy Graham.

Lowry and his band walked away with the grand prize, which included $500 in cash, the opportunity to represent the Local 518 in January’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis, gigs at Shepard Park in Lake George (Saturday, August 24) and the Roadhouse Grille in Albany (TBA) and premium guitar set-ups from Kokotele Guitar Works for guitarist Lowry and bassist Bacco Bergquist.

Last year, Lowry & Co. also took first place in the band category, while Holly & Evan also earned a win in the solo/duo category. This year, with the addition of drummer Bob Morris, Holly & Evan competed in the band category.
