Philadelphia-based alt-rockers Man Man have been announced as the headlining band for the annual Restoration Festival, wrapping up the two-day fest on Saturday, September 7 at the Contemporary Artists Center at Woodside in Troy.
Their Rest Fest performance will be the kick-off of their national tour in support of On Oni Pond, Man Man’s upcoming new album slated for release on Anti- Records on Tuesday, September 10.
Since the release of their 2004 debut album, The Man in a Blue Turban With a Face, Philadelphia-based rock experimentalists Man Man have drawn comparisons to a wide array of forward-thinking avant rocksters, including Captain Beefheart, Mr. Bungle, Tom Waits, the Mars Volta and Frank Zappa.
They’ve toured with the likes of Modest Mouse, Yeasayer and Tim Fite. Their music has been featured on “Weeds” and Nike commercials. And they’ve dazzled critics at such high-profile fests as Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, All Tomorrow’s Parties and Voodoo Experience. But led by keyboardist-vocalist-lyricist Honus Honus, the band has steadfastly cut its own unique path through the contemporary musical landscape.
