OVERHEARD after the show: Jon Spencer Blues Explosion guitarist Judah Bauer and a fan discussing the approximate value of Bauer’s onstage gear of solid-state amps and custom guitars ($10,000) versus Jon Spencer’s Peavey amp and pawn-shop Zimgar guitar ($400). Said Bauer of Spencer’s trashy taste: “He just likes the way it sounds….” JSBX toast the budget guitar’s raunchy sound with the song “Zimgar,” on their latest album, Meat and Bone.
COVERED by JSBX at Valentine’s: Rocket from the Tombs/Dead Boys’ “What Love Is,” the Beastie Boys’ “She’s On It” and Chain Gang’s “Son of Sam.”
