MUSIC: Son Volt @ The Egg, Albany. Jay Farrar, who along with Jeff Tweedy spearheaded the alt-country movement with the band Uncle Tupelo, formed Son Volt in 1990s, a group known for its melodic songs that radiate intelligence, honesty and melancholy. The band lands in Albany in support of their latest album Honky Tonk. Colonel Ford, featuring members of Son Volt, will open the show. 7:30pm. $24.
