THEATER: “Billy Elliot the Musical” @ Proctors, Schenectady. A joyous celebration of one boy’s journey to make his dreams come true as a dancer, trading in his boxing gloves for ballet shoes. MUSIC: The Steel Wheels @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Their soulful Blue Ridge Mountains music marries old-time musical traditions with their own innovative sound on their new album, No More Rain. Featuring guitarist-vocalist Trent Wagler, fiddler Eric Brubaker, bassist Brian Dickel and mandolinist Jay Lapp. 7pm. $18. UPDATE 6/4/13 at 3pm: This show is now officially sold out.

MUSIC: Keith Pray’s Big Soul Ensemble @ the Van Dyck, Schenectatdy. The 21st century big band is joined by special guest trombonist/composer/arranger Alan Ferber for a concert that features many of his compositions and arrangements. 8pm. FREE.

RADIO: “Jazz 2K” @ WSPN (91.1-FM). Nippertown’s own J Hunter pulls his regular “Jazz 2K” column off your computer screen and brings it to you live on his new weekly radio show which debuts tonight on Skidmore College’s radio station. Tune in… 6-8pm. More info here…
