THEATER/MUSIC: “Echoing Back: The Songs of Johnny Mercer” @ Fort Salem Theater, Salem. This revue of tunes from the man who wrote such gems as “Come Rain or Come Shine” and “Moon River” was created and directed by Broadway performer Karin Baker with arrangements by musical director David Hancock Turner. 8pm. $25 (including $6 credit for refreshments).
READING: Nancy Kricorian @ the Spotty Dog, Hudson. The author reads from her new novel “All the Light There Was,” about an Armenian family’s struggle to survive the Nazi occupation of Paris in the 1940s. 4pm.

It's a great excuse and luxury, having a job and blaming it for your inability to do your own art. When you don't have to work, you are left with the horror of facing your own lack of imagination and your own emptiness.
