Led by Gabriel Marin on his custom-built, double-neck, fretless guitar, Consider the Source will be serving up a heaping helping of what they describe as “sci-fi Middle Eastern funk,” when they roll into Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany on Saturday night (March 30).
The power trio is capable of switching seamlessly from metal riffing to a prog-rock groove to a swirling psychedelic improvisation, with well-timed samples between it all. They’ve America on seven national road trips, as well as tours of Israel, Turkey and Germany. And they’ve recorded three albums, including their latest, F**k It, We’ll Do It Live.
Saturday’s triple-bill at Valentine’s also features Germany’s five-piece jazz-metal-prog band Panzerballet, who will unleash an assortment of intense originals, as well as unique arrangements from their repertoire of covers culled from the diverse songbags of Deep Purple, the Brecker Brothers, Weather Report, Frank Zappa, ABBA, Dave Brubeck and others.
And if that’s not enough, rounding out the bill will be one of Nippertown’s premiere progressive bands Timbre Coup.
Consider the Source, Panzerballet and Timbre Coup join forces at Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany at 9pm on Saturday for a night of adventurous, powerhouse international sounds. Tickets are $12 in advance; $15 at the door.
