2012 was a knockout year for North Country bluegrass band the Gibson Brothers, culminating in September by winning top honor as Entertainers of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Associations awards show at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.
But Eric and Leigh Gibson (and the rest of the band) are certainly aiming to keep the good times rolling in 2013. Back in January, they dazzled with a sold-out concert at The Egg.
And now they’re gearing up for the release of their hotly anticipated new album They Called It Music. Slated for release from Nashville’s Compass Records on Tuesday (March 26), the upcoming album features a batch of impressive new original tunes (“Somethin’ Comin’ to Me,” “The Darker the Night, the Better I See”), as well as sparkling covers from the songbags of Mark Knopfler, the Delmore Brothers and Loretta Lynn.
While the new album comes out tomorrow, fans are going to have to wait another month for the official release party, when Saratoga Guitar sponsors the Gibson Brothers’ concert at Lillian’s Restaurant in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Thursday, April 25. Advance tickets are $25, available at both Saratoga Guitar locations or by phone at (518) 581-1603.
