There’s no better cure for the blues than the blues… So shake off those mid-winter blues with a double-barrelled blast of the blues at Albany’s Steamer No. 10 Theatre this Saturday evening (February 23).
“Blues for the Steamer” is a benefit concert for the theater, and the dynamic double-bill features some of the finest talents on the Capital Region blues scene.
Headliners Holly & Evan recently returned from Memphis, where they represented the Capital Region at the prestigious International Blues Challenge, competing against major blues talents from all around the world in the duo category. At the Steamer, however, singer-songwriter-guitarist Holly Taormina and bassist Evan Conway will be bolstering their sound with the addition of drummer Bob Morris and saxophonist Josh Greenberg.
Opener Low ‘N Lonesome is the acoustic blues guitar duo of Phil Drum and Rob Adkins. The founder and guiding force behind the Saratoga Acoustic Blues Society, Drum has already showcased his serious six-string skills on his solo album, “Old Blues,” but when he teams up with Louisiana native Adkins, the sparks really begin to fly, as they dig into the time-honored repertoire of blues, ragtime and beyond.
It promises to be a hot winter night of classic American music at the Steamer No. 10 Theatre in Albany at 8pm on Saturday (February 23), when Holly & Evan and Low ‘N Lonesome team up for “Blues for the Steamer,” a double-bill benefit concert for the theater. Suggested donation for the show is $15.
