Ken Stringfellow has had a long and illustrious musical career, beginning with with ’80s power-popsters the Posies. Along the way, he’s played with such groups as the Minus 5, Lagwagon and the Disciplines, as well as a couple of bigger bands that you just might be a bit more familiar with – Big Star and R.E.M.
The prolific Stringfellow, however, has also led quite an impressive solo career, launched with “This Sounds Like Goodbye,” back in 1997. Just last year, he uncorked his fifth solo album, “Danzig in the Moonlight.”
He describes the album as “a culmination of all I have learned and experienced in over 30 years of performing, producing, writing and conceptualizing music. The album reflects my wide interests, from avant-garde 20th century composers to generation Pitchfork and many stops in between and beyond.” Stringfellow is currently in the midst of a 27-shows-in-27-days tour that includes a stop at Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany on Saturday.
Ken Stringfellow rolls into Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany for a solo show on Saturday night (February 23). Mod Fiction opens the show at 8pm in support of their recently released debut album, “Come Back Down.” Tickets are $10.
