The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington has released its spring season schedule of performances, and while we’ve already announced several of the concerts – heck, we announced humorist David Sedaris’ appearance way back in mid-October – there was definitely one stand-out new show on the schedule.
Constantly collaborating with a wide-ranging, genre-smashing cadre of musicians in ever-changing musical formats, both players are among the most fearless, ambitious and adventurous – yet, always accessible – musicians on the planet. Mehldau last performed in Nippertown for a magnificent solo concert at Tanglewood’s Ozawa Hall during a massive thunder-and-lightning storm in August of 2011. Thile’s last area performance was with his band the Punch Brothers at The Egg in Albany last September, on the very night before it was announced that Thile was being honored with a MacArthur “Genius” Foundation grant.
Put the two musicians together and it spells, “W.O.W.”
Ticket prices for the Mehldau/Thile concert range from $25 to $47, and tickets are slated to go on sale to the general public at 10am on Thursday (February 14). A limited number of $15 tickets are available for patrons ages 30 and younger to all Mahaiwe-produced programs through the Mahaiwe ArtSmart Tix program.
