MUSIC: Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys @ McGeary’s Pub, Albany. The wry bluegrass band is gearing up for the release of their new album next month. 7:15pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Matt Pond @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Having dropped the “PA” that has accompanied his name for nearly a decade, Pond is about to launch his first official “solo” release. Pond’s new album The Lives Inside the Lines in Your Hand won’t land in stores until tomorrow, and he’s lined up for “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday night. But you can catch him live tonight jump on it all in Hudson tonight. 8pm. $15.

TALK: Colman Domingo @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center Recital Hall, Albany. The actor (Tony-nominated for “The Scottsboro Boys”), director and playwright kicks off the 2013 season of the New York State Writers Institute’s Visiting Writers Series. 8pm. FREE. Also a free seminar at 4:15pm at the UAlbany Campus Center Assembly Hall, Albany.

THEATER: “The Pillowman” @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Channel Z Theater presents Martin McDonagh’s bold, dark comedy about a hapless writer living in a police state who is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a number of bizarre child murders occurring in his town. Directed by Irma Zehr. 7:30pm. $15; students & seniors $12. Through Tuesday, February 5.

FILM: “Mutiny on the Bounty” @ Proctors’ Mainstage, Schenectady. The 1935 version starring Charles Laughton and Clark Gable. 4:30 & 7:30pm. $5.

FILM: “The Wiz” @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. Diana Ross is Dorothy in this 1978 film of the hit Broadway musical re-telling of the Wizard of Oz saga. With Michael Jackson, Nipsey Russell, Lena Horne and Richard Pryor. 7pm. $5; children $3.
