Here’s one, we definitely didn’t see comin’…

Punk pioneer Legs McNeil – co-founder/writer for the seminal Punk magazine; former senior editor at Spin magazine; and founder/editor of Nerve magazine – is scheduled to land at the Limbo Bar & Grill in Gloversville at 8pm on Saturday, February 2.

McNeil and his co-author Gillian McCain will read from their classic 2006 book “Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk.” McNeil will also read from his new book “Live Through This.” The readings will be followed by a one-hour Q&A session.

And in commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the death of Sid Vicious (February 2, 1978), the evening’s festivities will also include a performance by Sex Pistols tribute band Brendan & the Scabs.

Tickets to the event are $10 in advance; $15 at the door.

Aaaaaargh! I have a gig and can’t go!

McNeil’s punk and porn oral histories are brilliant, fascinating books.

Uhhh, “Please Kill Me” is anything but classic and was first published in the early/mid 90s.

At least Sid Vicious and Lester Bangs, a really great punk writer, had the good graces to die before they got old.

Thank you for posting this. J. Welf nailed it, random and awesome!

    @ Ronnie Shirts

Uhhh, “Please Kill Me” is pretty awesome and ’97 is later than early 90′s, like that has any relevance to this event. If you are young, please follow your “own” (trite) philosophy, if not, please get on it. Cheers, Phil
