MUSIC: A Far Cry @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. The innovative 17-piece self-conducted orchestra performs Heinrich Ignaz Biber’s “Battaglia à 10” in D major; Arvo Part’s “Fratres”; Oswaldo Golijov’s “Last Round”; and William Walton’s “Sonata for Strings.” 8pm. $15, $25, $35 & $39.

OPERA ON FILM: “Maria Stuarda” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato takes on the virtuosic bel canto role of the doomed Mary, Queen of Scots, in this Metropolitan Opera premiere production. 12:55pm. $25; students $15.

MUSIC: Yung Wu @ BSP Lounge, Kingston. Essentially the Feelies in disguise, with original percussionist Dave Weckerman stepping out from behind his kit and fronting the band. With East of Venus and Wild Carnation, both of which also feature members of the Feelies. 8pm. $15. More info here…

FILM: “Consuming Spirits” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Nearly 15 years in the making, Chris Sullivan’s film is a meticulously constructed tour de force of experimental animation. Shooting frame by frame in 16mm, Sullivan seamlessly blends together a range of techniques – cutout animation, pencil drawing, collage and stop-motion animation – into a distinct visual style, constructing a suspenseful gothic tale that tracks the intertwined lives of three kindred spirits working at a local newspaper in a Midwestern rust belt town. 5pm. $7; students $5.

FILM: “Any Day Now” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. An award-winning film directed by Travis Fine about a gay couple (Alan Cumming and Garret Dillahunt) who takes in an abandoned teenager with Down syndrome (Isaac Leyva) and becomes the loving family he’s never had. 8pm. $7; students $5.

MUSIC: Lifehouse @ Siena College, Loudonville. As part of the two-day New York Womens Expo, the band serves up a special acoustic performance in support of their new album Almeria. Expo 10am-6pm; performance at 1pm. $5.

MUSIC: The Joe Nacco Band @ Johnny Goo’s Clam Shack, Schenectady. Yes, after 10 years, the Joe Nacco Band is calling it quits with this one last farewell gig. 9pm.
