FILM: “The Throwaways” @ the Madison Theatre, Albany. A sneak preview of a documentary that chronicles the the life of ex-felon and activist Ira McKinley as he struggles to turn his life around and transform his Albany inner city community. Two screenings only, each followed by Q&A with filmmakers McKinley and Bhawin Suchak. 7 & 9:15pm. $10.

MUSIC: The Wailers @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. Reggae legends. 8pm. $25 & $45.

THEATER ON FILM: “The Magistrate” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. The National Theatre of London production starring John Lithgow. 7pm. $22; children under 12 $15.

FILM: “Holy Motors” @ Saratoga Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. Director Leos Carax has concocted one of the most surreal films of 2012, chronicling a day in the life of the mysterious Monsieur Oscar (Denis Levant), who leads different lives as he slips seamlessly through several alternate realities. 7:30pm. $7; students $5.

READING: Tamara Gabbard @ the Social Justice Center, Albany. The monthly Third Thursday poetry session is hosted by Dan Wilcox. 7pm open mic sign-up; 7:30pm readings. $3.
