1/15/13: Today’s Tips: Tuesday

THEATER: “Race” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. From the pen of David Mamet comes the provocative drama about race, sex, power and guilt directed by Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill and starring Kevin Craig West, J. Anthony Crane, Wynn Harmon and Shelley Thomas. It’s opening night. 7:30pm. $20, $30, $40 & $50. Through Sunday, February 10.

MUSIC: Gamble/Previte/Rucker @ Red Square, Albany. Master drummer Bobby Previte leads his adventurous new trio that also features guitarist Mike Gamble and saxophonist Fabian Rucker. With Doctor Magnum celebrating the release of their new album, Live at Red Square. 9pm. $10.

THEATER: “Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience” @ Proctors, Schenectady. Two guys – writer-actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner – somehow manage to condense all seven Harry Potter books into just 70 fun-filled minutes. 7:30pm. $45 & $55. Through Sunday.
