Comin’ Soon: New Concert Announcements

Acclaimed singer-songwriters and longtime friends Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin will share the stage as an intimate duo at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton at 8pm on Friday, May 10, performing material spanning their vast catalogs as well as some of their other favorite songs. Tickets are priced at $38.50 & $48.50 and will go on sale to the general public on Friday (January 11).

Lifehouse is slated to roll into Siena College in Loundonville on Saturday, January 19, as part of the two-day New York Women’s Expo. In support of their new album Almeria, the veteran rockers will serve up a special acoustic performance at the Expo at 1pm. Tickets to the Expo are $5 per day.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Two new summer concerts have been announced for Tanglewood in Lenox – Jackson Browne (with Sara Watkins) and Grammy Award-winning jazz bassist-vocalist Esperanza Spalding.

The Windham Chamber Music Festival presents a special winter jazz concert featuring the Mulgrew Miller Trio at 8pm on Saturday, January 19 at the Windham Civic Center Concert Hall in Windham. Tickets are $25; seniors $22; students $5. Including a free reception following the performance.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In late-breaking news today, The Egg in Albany added four more concerts to its calendar, including performances by Suzzy Roche, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Rob Morsberger, the Wood Brothers, Al Kooper & Jimmy Vivino and Son Volt.

Club Helsinki in Hudson has bolstered its schedule with the additions of the double-bill of solo guitarists Alexander Turnquist and Eric Carbonara at 9pm on Friday, February 8 ($TBA); actor-country singer John Corbett and his band at 8pm on Thursday, February 21 ($TBA); and the return of the Wood Brothers at 9pm on Saturday, March 2 ($25 in advance; $28 at the door).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Led Zeppelin tribute band Hammer of the Gods returns to The Egg in Albany…

February is the shortest month of the year, but the folks at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs have still managed to cram a big batch of fine music into those 28 short days, including Cliff Eberhardt at 8pm on Friday, February 1 ($18); the veteran Jack Landron at 8pm on Saturday, February 2 ($18); Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem at 7pm on Sunday, February 3 ($20); the Grand Slambovians at 8pm on Friday, February 8 ($32); the Revelers at 7pm on Sunday, February 17 ($18); Nippertown’s own Sean Rowe at 8pm on Saturday, February 23 ($16); and bluesman Corey Harris at 7pm on Sunday, February 24 ($24).

The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock has added a couple of new concerts to its calendar, including Garnet Rogers at 9pm on Friday, February 22 ($TBA) and Mike + Ruthy with the Wiyos at 9pm on Saturday, May 4 ($20).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Three Days Grace and Shinedown bring their co-headlining tour to the Glens Falls Civic Center with P.O.D. opening the show.

Newly added to the line-up of performers at the Freihofer Saratoga Jazz Festival at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center is the Donny McCaslin Group. The tenor saxman and his band will perform on the second day of the festival, Sunday, June 30.

“American Idol” contestant (he placed fourth way back in season two) and country singer Josh Gracin rambles into the Wood Theater in Glens Falls at 8pm on Thursday, February 28. Tickets are $43.50.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: DJ Pauly D – yes, he of “Jersey Shore” fame – is headed into the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany…

The twisted sounds of Twiztid will once again grace the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Friday, March 15. The show kicks off at 7:30pm with opening sets from HEDpe and Potluck. Tickets are $18 in advance; $20 at the door. More exciting, however, is the power-prog double-bill of Opeth and Steve Wilson (of Porcupine Tree) with Katatonia opening. The show is slated for 7:30pm on Sunday, April 28, with advance tickets priced at $27.50 scheduled to go on sale at 10am on Friday (January 11).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Among the bands announced to play at the WCDB-FM 35th Birthday Bash Anniversary Festival Extravaganza at Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany are the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Oberhofer, Barons in the Attic and the reunions of Blotto and Dirty Face.

The Midnight Ramble turns into a “Rockabilly Rumble at the Ramble” when guitarist Jimmy Vivino, bassist Lee Rocker, drummer Anton Fig and special guest Robert Gordon team up at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock at 8pm on Saturday, February 9. Tickets are $75 & $85; standing room $50.

SOLD OUT: And this is why you just shouldn’t dawdle when buying tickets… John Oliver’s stand-up comedy show at The Egg in Albany on Friday (January 11) is now officially sold out.

New concerts recently added to the calendar for the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton include Mike Doughty at 7pm on Sunday, February 24 ($22.50 in advance; $25 at the door); the Wood Brothers at 7pm on Wednesday, February 27 ($22.50 in advance; $25 at the door); and Austin’s Band of Heathens at 7pm on Friday, April 5 ($12.50 in advance; $15 at the door).
