It might seem odd to refer to a radio performer as “visionary,” but it’s difficult to find another word that more accurately describes Ira Glass – the creator and, yes, visionary behind “This American Life.”
Now Glass is out on tour with “Reinventing Radio: An Evening with Ira Glass” – a live performance in which he gives the audience an inside look at his renowned radio show – how he makes “This American Life”; how he and his staff find compelling stories; and how he makes shows from them that are unique in broadcast journalism.
Onstage, Glass will combine his live narration with quotes and music from “This American Life,” deftly mixing them to re-create a radio segment before your eyes, explaining memorable, sometimes funny and sometimes serious excerpts from the show from his point of view at the heart of public radio.
“Reinventing Radio: An Evening with Ira Glass” comes to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy for one night only at 8pm on Saturday (December 1). Tickets are $25, $36, $48 & $52; children and students receive a $5 discount.
