In 2009, the dynamic and intense performer, award-winning violinist Jennifer Koh debuted “Bach and Beyond,” a six-year, three-recital musical project that explores the history of the solo violin repertoire from Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas through to works by modern day composers and new commissions.
On Friday evening (November 30), Koh will perform “Bach and Beyond, Part II” at EMPAC at RPI in Troy. The program features JS Bach’s Partita No. 1 in B minor, BWV 1002; Phil Kline’s Partita for solo violin; Kaija Saariaho’s … de la Terre for solo violin and electronics; John Zorn’s Passagen and Bela Bartok’s Sonata for solo violin, Sz. 117.
Acclaimed for her passionate performances, Koh has she won the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, the Concert Artists Guild Competition and the Avery Fisher Career Grant, in addition to performing with leading orchestras and conductors throughout the world.
