Ten Year Vamp insists that they’re not breaking up, but they are making some changes.
Via Facebook, the band announced, “We’ve decided that we won’t be playing any more cover shows after the end of 2012. Ten years of playing covers is a long time and we’d like to take some time off to write some new Ten Year Vamp songs. So please make sure to come out to a show over these next few months. and even though we won’t be playing cover shows after the end of the year, we’ll still be writing and working on music and videos, so please stay in touch and check in with us every so often!”
The band’s final cover band show is slated to take place at the Bayou Cafe in Albany on Saturday, January 5. But you don’t have to wait that long. You’ve got two chances to catch Ten Year Vamp in action this holiday weekend. You can find them at Albany’s Bayou Cafe at 10:30pm tonight (Wednesday, November 21) and at Sandy’s Clam Bar in Glens Falls at 10:30pm on Friday (November 23).
And it’s not like the members of Ten Year Vamp are going into hibernation after January 5. In fact, guitarist Mark Rose has already announced plans to start a new band. As he recently wrote on his Facebook page, “I’m putting together a country/rock band to play 4-5 times a month around the Northeast. Big cover shows and lots of writing and licensing original material. Male & female vocals with lots of harmonies… I’m looking for any interested musicians/singers but serious people only. Please email me email@example.com.”
