THEATER ON FILM: “Timon of Athens” @ Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. In a production from the National Theatre of London, Simon Russell Beale takes the title role in Shakespeare’s strange fable of consumption, debt and ruin. 7pm. $15: ages 12 and under $12.

MUSIC: Ramblin Jug Stompers @ McGeary’s Pub, Albany. “And the doctor said, ‘Give ’em jug band music. It seems to make ’em feel just fine.'” 7pm. FREE.

WORKSHOP: “Songwriting 101: Make a Song” @ Albany Public Library, Albany. Work with an experienced songwriter who discusses his process and offers suggestions and techniques to help you with yours. If you have never written a song before, or are looking to improve your writing, this workshop by singer-songwriter Mitch Elrod is for you. 7pm. FREE. Preceded by a short concert by Matt Durfee at 6:30pm.

MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: “Wicked Unplugged” @ Mt. Everett Regional High School’s Consolati Performing Arts Center, Sheffield. Members of the national touring company of “Wicked” perform some of their favorite non-“Wicked” songs to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. With singer-songwriter David Grover and students from Undermountain Elementary School. $25 & $50; students $20. 7pm.

FILM: “GoodFellas” @ Proctors, Schenectady. Martin Scorsese’s 1990 mob classic. 1:30, 4:30 & 7:30pm. $5.
