The Rustic Overtones have had quite the roller coaster musical career. The Portland, Maine rockers were originally signed to Arista Records by uber music biz mogul Clive Davis and recorded an album with powerhouse producer Tony Visconti and such superstar guests as David Bowie and Imogen Heap. But when Davis was forced to leave Arista, the Rustic Overtones’ deal was dropped.
Eventually, the album was released on Tommy Boy Records, but within a year, Tommy Boy’s deal with Warner Brothers Records fell through, and Rustic Overtones were once left without a record label.
The band called it quits.
Finally five years later in 2007, the band reunited, and since then, they’ve continued to carry on as the Rustic Overtones, releasing two new albums of original material, Light at the End and New Way Out.
The Rustic Overtones are headed into Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs on Friday night (November 16). Local 518 faves the Stone Revival Band will open the show. Doors open at 8pm; music starts at 9pm. Tickets are $10 at the door; $15 for those under 21 years of age.
