As a duo, Puerto Rican vocalist Taína Asili and Sicilian guitarist Gaetano Vaccaro – both driving forces in the band Tania Asili y la Bande Rebelde – serve up some of Latin America’s best loved folkloric classics as well as spirited Spanish flamenco music.
But they’ll be kicking it up a notch or two on Saturday night at Albany’s Steamer No. 10 Theatre when they are joined by flamenco dancer April Goltz from New Mexico for their performance of “Noche Flamenca.”
And to add an even broader border-hopping sound to their music, Indian tabla master Devesh Chandra will be joining in the international musical festivities, as well. Now that’s what we call honest-to-goodness “world music,” stirring together musical traditions from Puerto Rico, Italy, Spain and India into one gigantic global groove.
Taina Asili & Gaetano Vaccaro and their special guests April Goltz and Devesh Chandra team up for a performance of “Noche Flamenca” at the Steamer No. 10 Theatre in Albany at 8pm on Saturday (November 10). Tix are $13 in advance; $15 at the door.
BUT WAIT… we’re giving away a pair of FREE TIX for Saturday’s show to a lucky Nippertown reader! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winner will be selected at random and notified on Saturday. Good luck! UPDATE: This contest has ended…
