Too Many Tributes?

OK, maybe it’s not actually a sign of the apocalypse, but it sure does make a depressing statement about the state of today’s music:

The Calvin Theatre in Northampton has a dozen shows on its current concert calendar… and a third of them are tribute bands: the Australian Pink Floyd Show, Dark Star Orchestra, Get the Led Out and the Fab Faux.

That’s just sad…

Yeah,, says something about the times/area we live in,, only 20 minutes ago listened to a song by Railbird & thought,, yes,, this is the spirit. But,,, thats just me..Hehe !!

I can’t vouch for the other acts listed, but having seen the Fab Faux here in Albany, I would describe their show as anything but “sad”, though your point is well taken. Some of the more hackneyed and hokey cover bands have had full run of our local clubs for far too long, it’s no wonder that these acts are starting to pop up in our theaters as well.
