“What Owen brings to the table is a wealth of knowledge of this community,” said Holly Brown, who has served as the Palace’s interim executive director since Kevin Carlon resigned in May after only a year in the executive director position.
“He’s a perfect complement to Holly,” said Alan Goldberg, chairman of the Palace’s board of directors. “He knows the Capital Region, he’s resourceful and he’s shown at Park Playhouse that he knows how to identify and solve problems.”
Smith’s immediate mandate will be to oversee the front-of-house and backstage operations at the Palace and to improve communications between those teams. Under Holly Brown, the Palace has been expanding its calendar of events significantly, and Smith’s directive will be to increase the capacity to handle more shows performing at the venue.
