Cast a top notch play with local actors? Yes, it can be done. There are enough top notch actors (who can also sing) residing in the region to be able to field a professional cast for the world premiere production of a new play. The key is to focus on the brilliance of the story and performers, not the bells and whistles on stage. Sets and costumes are important, that’s for sure, but in the end nobody ever leaves a theatre whistling the scenery. That’s why WAM Theatre has as a cornerstone principle the objective of using local – or more precisely – regional actors.

WAM Theatre’s October 12-28 World Premiere production of The Old Mezzo by Berkshire based playwright Susan Dworkin will feature professional actors from Berkshire County and the Pioneer Valley in Western Massachusetts, as well as the Capital Region of Upstate NY and beyond.
