Legendary Texas music singer-songwriter Billy Joe Shaver – yes, Billy Joe Shaver – makes a tour stop at the oh-so-intimate Ale House in Troy at 8pm on Tuesday, December 4. Tix are $30 and worth every penny.

The Upstate Music Hall in Clifton Park continues to pump out some of the most eclectic bookings of any club in Nippertown, and they proved it again this week with a batch of new concerts, including the Acacia Strain with Cruel Hand, I Declare War, Fit for Autopsy and No Bragging Rights at 8pm on Thursday, October 4 ($14 in advance; $16 at the door); country hitmakers Lonestar at 8:30pm on Tuesday, November 13 ($15 in advance; $17 at the door; on sale on Friday); and Dance Gavin Dance’s Rock Yourself to Sleep tour with A Lot Like Birds, I the Mighty and the Orphan, the Poet at 6:30pm on Sunday, November 25 ($15 in advance; $17 at the door; on sale Friday).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy announced that they’ve added a solo concert by pianoman Bruce Hornsby to their fall concert calendar.

Moonalice – featuring a veteran all-star line-up that includes drummer John Molo (Bruce Hornsby & the Range), guitarist Barry Sless (Phil Lesh & Friends), keyboardist Pete Sears (Jefferson Airplane) and others – teams up with Woodstock’s own Professor Louie & the Crowmatix for a double bill at The Linda in Albany at 8pm on Saturday, October 27. Tix are $15. And as we announced a month ago, Melissa Ferrick is headed into The Linda at 8pm on Friday, November 2. Priced at $20, tix are now on sale.

Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany plays host to A Hawk and a Hacksaw were supposed to headline Restoration Fest 2011 until a hurricane got in their way, but thanks to the fab folks at Dellarocca Booking they’re finally making their belated way to Albany for a show at Valentine’s Music Hall on Saturday, October 27. Rest Fest alum Brian Dewan and Sgt. Dunbar & the Hobo Banned are slated to kick off the evening’s festivities at 8pm. Tix are $11 in advance; $13 at the door.

The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock has been stocking up on new concerts for the fall season, too – including Naked Truth (featuring King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto, Lorenzo Feliciati, Roy Powell and Graham Haynes showcasing selections from their upcoming sophomore album, “Ouroboros”) at 8pm on Thursday, September 27 ($15); the return of the all-star-laden Python Soup (featuring Simon Phillips, Don Byron, David Spinozza, Scott Petito and Pete Levin) at 8:30pm on Monday, October 8 ($15); the “Woodstock Tribute to Peter Tosh” featuring Royal Khaoz and more at 9pm on Friday, October 19 ($15); Moonalice with Professor Louie & the Crowmatix at 8pm on Thursday, October 25 ($15); and “Another Night of Paul Butterfield” featuring Jimmy Vivino, Gabe Butterfield and another all-star cast of players at 9pm on Friday, November 16 ($25 in advance; $30 at the door).

NEW LOWER PRICES: Ticket prices have been lowered for Jeff Slate’s Birds of Paradox tribute to John Lennon on Saturday, October 6 at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock. Tix have been lowered from $20 to $15. VIP tix have been lowered from $40 to $25.

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: The 3LAU concert scheduled for the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Thursday, October 18, has been cancelled, and all tix will be refunded at the place of purchase. BUT… 3LAU will be performing at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany on the same evening. Details TBA…

Club Helsinki in Hudson has certainly been busy booking new concerts during the past week. A few of the fresh highlights at the nightspot include Yassou Benedict & Friends at 8pm on Thursday, September 27 ($TBA); the return of the Wiyos with the Rooftrees at 8pm on Thursday, October 4 ($TBA); Scottish music legends the Battlefield Band at 8pm on Wednesday, October 24 ($18 in advance; $20 at the door); Joy Kills Sorrow at 9pm on Friday, November 30 ($15); and Simone Felice (formerly of the Felice Brothers) at 9pm on Friday, December 7 ($18).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The finalists were announced for the SPAC Battle of the Bands, which is slated to take place at SPAC’s Spa Little Theater in Saratoga Springs at 6pm on Friday, September 21. Tix are $15.

A couple of weeks ago we announced that fab young British singer-songwriter Laura Marling was headed into MASS MoCA in North Adams on Friday, October 26, but now she’s also included a date at the Colony Cafe in Woodstock at 8pm on Thursday, October 25. Tix are $30.

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: Acoustic bluesman Guy Davis has unfortunately cancelled his performance scheduled for Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday, October 12. Fortunately, the folks at the Caffe have lined-up a mighty fine singer-songwriter as a replacement – Cheryl Wheeler. Showtime is 8pm, and tix are $28 in advance; $30 at the door.
