MUSIC: Nation Beat @ MASS MoCA’s Courtyard C, North Adams. Carnivale-meets-Mardi Gras, as the band’s 21st-century fusion of thunderous Brazilian maracatu drumming, New Orleans rhythms, Appalachian music, funk and country-blues fuels a high-energy Brazilian big beat dance party. 8pm. $15; students $10.

MUSIC: Baby Gramps @ the Black Swan, Tivoli. The eccentric and entertaining Seattle music legend offers his bottomless repertoire, rooted in the blues, rags and jazz of the ’20s & ’30s. 8pm.

FILM: “Free Radicals: A History of Experimental Cinema” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Filmmaker Pip Chodorov offers his affectionate overview of some of the leading figures of 20th century experimental film, combining film clips (and entire films) with conversations with the likes of such greats as Hans Richter, Robert Breer, Michael Snow, Peter Kubelka and Stan Brakhage. 6pm. $7; students $5.

FESTIVAL/MUSIC: The Final Stretch Music Festival @ various locations, Saratoga Spring. The Chris O’Leary Band cranks up the blues, along with Solid Smoke, Low ‘N Lonesome, Super 8 Six, Elizabeth Woodbury Kasius & Heard, the GTO’s and They Might Be Gypsies. 7pm. FREE. FILM: “Planet of Snail” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Director Seungjun Yi’s award-winning documentary about an accomplished young deaf and blind poet and his relationship with the world around him. 8pm. $7; students $5.
