Jazz vocalist Teri Roiger is celebrating the release of her new album, “Dear Abbey: The Music of Abbey Lincoln,” with a high profile CD release celebration at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola in Manhattan on Monday (September 3). Showtimes are 7:30 & 9:30pm. Tix are $25; students $10.
Produced by Brian Bacchus, “Dear Abbey” is Roiger’s third CD as a vocalist and bandleader, and she is especially passionate about this recording. “Abbey’s music has had a profound influence on my life as a woman, musician, teacher, lyricist, and songwriter,” says Roiger. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share this music with the audience at Dizzy’s!”
Performing with her on Monday in NYC will be pianist Frank Kimbrough, bassist John Menegon and drummer Stave Williams, all of whom are also featured on the album.
The CD will be released next month on Greg Osby’s label, Inner Circle Music. Osby also lends his alto sax talents to five of the album’s tracks, while guitarist Mark Dziuba sits in as special guest of “Hey Lordy Mama.”
