The second annual Downtown Albany JazzFest Competition is slated to take place at a number of various venues in downtown Albany on the evening of Friday, September 7.
Sponsored by the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District and the City of Albany, the competition will feature live jazz music from 5-9pm on Friday, September 7 at eight different downtown nightspots. Admission is free to all DAJFC performances, and free trolley service will also be provided throughout the evening of the competition. The general public is encouraged to come downtown, soak up some great jazz sounds, pick up a ballot and vote for their favorite performance of the evening.
The top vote-getter will kick off the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival at 12noon on the following day (Saturday, September 8).

The jazz performer with the most votes will play the opening set at the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival at Albany’s Riverfront Park in the Corning Preserve at 12noon on Saturday, September 8. The Saturday festival will also feature performances by Way Down (1:15pm), the Pedrito Martinez Group featuring Araicne Trujillo (2:30pm), Delfeayo Marsalis (4pm); Charlie Hunter (5:30pm) and Terri Lyne Carrington’s Mosaic Project featuring Nona Hendryx and Gretchen Parlato (7:30pm).
