MUSIC: The Philadelphia Orchestra @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. It’s opening night for the Philly Orchestra’s summer residency in the Spa City. Guest pianist Garrick Ohlsson joins conductor Stéphane Denève for Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Also Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2. 8pm.

MUSIC: Brandi Carlile @ The Egg, Albany. The acclaimed singer-songwriter and her band return to Albany in support of their first Top 10 album, “Bear Creek.” With the Barr Brothers. 8pm. $38.25.

MUSIC: Jackson Browne @ Mountain Park, Holyoke. With Sara Watkins. 7pm. $46, $56 & $76.

FESTIVAL: Irish Night @ the Pruyn House Complex, Latham. With Hair of the Dog. 7pm. $5; children 12 and under FREE.

MUSIC: Paul Cebar @ Shepard Park, Lake George. Milwaukee omni-popster Cebar and his band closed out the 2009 season at Shepard Park with a wide-ranging rock show that also drew on the flavors of African, Latin American and Caribbean music. 7:30pm. FREE.

MUSIC: The Lustre Kings @ Green Island Gazebo, Green Island. 6pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Bobby Dick’s Rock ‘n’ Roll 101 @ North End Firehouse, Rensselaer. The Rensselaer Music in the Park concert series continues with the former front man of the Capital Region’s legendary Sundowners. 6pm. FREE. More info here…

MUSIC: Teddy Geiger @ Jillian’s, Albany. With Jennings. His debut album “Underage Thinking” shot into the Top 10. He toured with Hilary Duff. And he starred in the CBS-TV series “Love Monkey,” as well as the 2008 film, “The Rocker.” 8pm. $12.

DANCE: Jacob’s Pillow, Becket. Canada’s renowned Royal Winnipeg Ballet in performances full of expert technique, passion and style. In this rare U.S. appearance, the company performs the spellbinding “Carmina Burana” and other ballets to the music of Steve Reich and Beethoven at the Ted Shawn Theater at 8pm. In the Doris Duke Theatre, contemporary choreographer and media artist Jonah Bokaer and his company perform the U.S. premiere of “Curtain,” a collaboration with visual artist Daniel Arsham and musician Chris Garneau at 8:15pm.
