“I remember the first record I bought, but it was a 45. It was Elvis’ ‘All Shook Up.’

“As far as albums go, it might have been an Elvis Presley record, too, a 33 1/3 album, but the rest is more or less a blur. I bought a lot of different things at different times.

“And my parents, of course, had albums that I loved, especially ‘Louis Prima, the Wildest,’ which was a live Louis Prima and Keely Smith record with Sam Boutera and the Witnesses. It was recorded live in Las Vegas, and that was one of my favorite albums.”

The sublime singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III makes a tour stop at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Thursday (August 2), in support of his new album, “Older Than My Old Man Now.” Tix are $25 in advance; $30 at the door.
