MUSIC: Ruth Pelham @ the Music Haven Stage in Schenectady’s Central Park. Music icon and Albany’s Music Mobile leader joins up with Ramblin Jug Stompers for a fun-filled, family-friendly evening of acoustic music and sing-alongs. 7pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Sharon Van Etten @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Her latest CD “Tramp” (produced by Aaron Dessner of the National) is one of the best albums of the year, and last Wednesday she stole the show as Conor Oberst’s opening act at The Egg. With Otto Hauser. 8pm. $20.

OPERA ON FILM: “Der Rosenkavalier” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. The Metropolitan Opera production of Strauss’s comic masterpiece of love and intrigue in 18th-century Vienna, starring Renée Fleming. 2pm. $12.50; students $7.50.

MUSIC: Special Creek Bluegrass Band @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. 7pm. $14.
