7/22/12: Today’s Tips: Sunday

MUSIC: The Deb Callahan Band @ the Music Haven Stage in Schenectady’s Central Park. The Philadelphia-based blues queen and her band rip it up in the Electric City in support of their recently released concert DVD, “Deb Callahan @ the World Cafe Live.” With Nippertown’s own fab bluesers Alison Jacobs & Matt Mirabile opening the show. 7pm. OPERA: “Lost in the Stars” @ Glimmerglass Opera, Cooperstown. It’s opening day for the Kurt Weill opera based on Alan Paton’s “Cry, the Beloved Country.” 1:30pm. $26-$132. Through August 25.

THEATER: Blue Man Group @ Proctors, Schenectady. They’re bald. They’re blue. They’re brilliant. And they’re back at Proctors after a dazzling stand last year. Don’t miss ‘em… 1 & 5pm. $20, $30, $45, $60 & $75.

MUSIC: Michael Benedict & Bopitude @ the Palmer House Café, Rensselaerville. A belated CD release party for the band’s sophomore album, “Five and One.” Featuring drummer-bandleader Michael Benedict, saxmen Brian Patneaude and Lee Russo, trumpeter Chris Pasin, pianist Scott Bassinson and bassist Mike Lawrence. 6:30pm. $10.

FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival @ Walsh Farm, Oak Hill. It’s the final day of the four-day fest. Today’s line-up features the Dry Branch Fire Squad, the Sleepy Man Banjo Boys, Anne & Pete Silbey, the Barley Jacks, more… Music officially starts at 10:30am.
