Story by Sylvia Aronson

“You get a little bit of everything, including the very, very top talent,” USA Today declared in selecting the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival as one of the Top 10 places to experience bluegrass music in 2012.

It’s that magical time when everything Americana, bluegrass music and sunshine rays converge on the Walsh Farm in Oak Hill, for the long-running, mega Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, which kicks off on Thursday (July 19) and runs through Sunday (July 22).

This award-winning four-day, six-stage music festival offers a who’s who of bluegrass music from regional acts to national performers and bonafide superstars – featuring the groove of the David Grisman Sextet, the feisty Infamous Stringdusters, elder statesman David Bromberg, mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile (playing with both Michael Daves and his band the Punch Brothers) and the impeccably fine sounding traditional bluegrass band, the North Country’s own Gibson Brothers.

Nippertown favorites Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys and John Kirk & Trish Miller, as well as Hot Rize, the Del McCoury Band and Pete Wernick’s Bluegrass Jam Campers round out this beautiful festival along with many other talented folks. Family fun includes camping, a farmers’ market, food booths, marketplace, workshops and dancing that lasts long past sunset on the farm.

Single day tix are $65 on Thursday-Saturday; $30 for Sunday; children 12 & under FREE. All-fest tix are $185.
