TALK: “It’s Time for a Talk: The National Conversation” @ Shakespeare & Co., Lenox. Academy Award-winning actor Richard Dreyfuss offers a lively discussion on the importance of Shakespeare in education, as well as civics education in the nation and beyond. 6:30pm. $15; under 18 FREE.

READING: Phillip Lopate @ Skidmore College’s Davis Auditorium, Saratoga Springs. It’s opening night of the NYS Summer Writers Institute featuring a non-fiction and fiction reading by Lopate and Elizabeth Benedict. 8pm. FREE.

TALK: “Talking Sex With Dr. Ruth” @ Barrington Stage Co., Pittsfield. In conjunction with the current play, “Dr. Ruth, All the Way,” the sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer herself engages in a discussion with playwright Mark St. Germain and a no-holds-barred Q&A session. 7pm. $25 & $35; VIP $75 includes a post-talk reception.
