The contemporary country extravaganza starts on the main stage at 7:30pm with the Band Perry and “American Idol” Scotty McCreery, but the festivities get underway on the second stage at 5pm with games, contests, photo ops and performances by up-and-comers Kristen Kelly, Jana Kramer and Love and Theft. $43.75 & $63.75; lawn $29.

MUSIC: Zummuto @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Nick Zammuto – guitarist with the Books – showcases his new band featuring his bassist brother Mikey Zammuto, drummer Sean Dixon and multi-instrumentalist Gene Back. 9pm. $15.

MUSIC: Dan Bern @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The singer-songwriter-troubadour with a rock ‘n’ roll heart plays in support of his new album, “Drifter.” 8pm. $20.

PERFORMANCE: “Frame Upon Frame – Chapter 1: God’s Woods” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Written by Linda Mussmann and performed by Claudia Bruce and Gerald Von Stoddard, the performance weaves together video and 8mm movie clips with the live music on stage. 7:30pm. $10. Also 7:30pm on Saturday.

MUSIC: Amy Collins & the Whomevers @ McIntyre’s, Watervliet. The folk ‘n’ Celtic singer-songwriter and her band showcase her new CD, “The Hour of the Wolf.” 7pm.
