Changes in Latitudes

No, Jimmy Buffett won’t be in attendance, but the inaugural Landshark’s Parrot Head Festival is likely to be the next best thing in the Spa City this summer.

The one-day fest takes place at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds in Ballston Spa from 2-9:30pm on Saturday (June 23), and organizers promise a day of Carribean island fun-in-the-sun with Landshark Lager, margaritas, grass skirts, contests, a VIP sand bar, tiki bar, raw bar, people watching and plenty of sun-splashed music.

Having attended the first annual Parrothead Festival at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds, on Saturday, June 23, 2012, I came away from it, with a lot of good memories to come.
Yes, we could have done without the rain and hail, (which reminded me of our 2009 experience at Comcast Center in Mansfield, Ma, while attending the Jimmy Buffett concert there! You know, deja vue all over again!)
I don’t know the exact head count, but it seemed to be well attended. All things considered, it seemed everyone had fun! Hey, good music, good food, prices very reasonable, what’s not to like!
The kids zone was great for the little ones.
We were in the VIP parking area, doing our tailgate thing, and while it could have been a little better, those of us who have been to a Buffett concert, KNOW how to party, and we taught some of the “newbies” the ropes!
Robanic started the music solidly, although the weather threw them some fits. Hey, water and electricity some times don’t mix too well! Kudos to them!
John Frinzi and John Patti brought the islands with them, and some nice repartee’.
Changes in Latitude, what’s to say. If you can’t get to see Jimmy, they ARE the next best thing!
There are some things I need to comment about:
    1. Could’ve done without the rain!
    2. Could’ve done without the hail!
    3. Could’ve done without the wind! (Ruined a good easy-up canopy, and damned near ruined my Margarita maker! And almost had my wife go with the canopy!)
I do hope they do this again, next year. Garth Elm worked really hard to stage this, and while there were a few glitches, you need to remember this was the first year, and you’re going to have a few bugs to work out!
Overall, a great experience! Two BIG Fins Up!
