Win FREE TIX to “Music From the Big House” @ Spectrum 8 Theatres on Monday!

At 7pm on Monday (June 4), the Spectrum 8 Theatres in Albany will host a special advance screening of “Music from the Big House,”, a documentary by award-winning director Bruce McDonald about the power of the blues to provide hope and redemption to the hopeless. Rita Chiarelli, Canada’s Queen of the Blues, takes a pilgrimage to the birthplace of the blues, Louisiana State Maximum Security Penitentiary, aka Angola Prison – what used to be the bloodiest prison in America. Her journey turns into a historic jailhouse performance – playing with inmates serving life sentences.

Following the screening, Rita Chiarelli will offer a short musical performance, as well as a Q&A session with the audience. Tix for this special one-night-only event are $13.

BUT WAIT… Have we got a deal for you! We’re giving away a pair of FREE TIX to the event to a lucky Nippertown reader! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winner will be selected at random and notified on Monday. Enter today! Good luck!

UPDATE: Congratulations to the winner, who has been notified by email. And thanks to the Spectrum 8 Theatres for the giveaway.

If we give them something positive maybe it will make a difference. “With people’s music we CAN make it!” The immortal words of the immortal Muic Mobile Lady, Ruth Pelham.

This could soothe my savage breast.

Yes, please, we can juke up in here, let’s juke up in here. Let’s juke up in the Spectrum. Let’s juke up everywhere. The arts are good for the spirit and they should bring those kinds of programs to hospitals, to homes, to the disabled, to the addicted, to those who have been through trauma, everywhere.

To Mr. LaPosta – Were you by any chance at the EMPAC event at the gasholder? I was on the lift.

  4. Frank LaPosta Visco says:

I was on the lift at the Gasholder House. It’s a small world — especially around here.

I was the person people were grabbing onto. Maybe I will see you at the event. I may have an extra ticket.

I have lines to learn for 2 different upcoming stage productions! Keep in touch, though.
