The Southern California band RACES have just released their debut album, “Year of the Witch,” and it’s a winning sonic swirl of indie-rock that embraces both darkness and pop, dreams and nightmares, complexity and simplicity.
Claiming such primary influences as Leonard Cohen and Televison, the six-piece band – guitarist-vocalist Wade Ryff, guitarist Garth Herberg, vocalist-percussion Devon Lee, keyboardist-vocalist Breanna Wood, bassist Oliver Hild and drummer Lucas Ventura – live up to that promise on “Year of the Witch.”
Now Nippertown audiences will get the chance to see what the band can do live. RACES will be making their Capital Region debut with a special Hump Day Happy Hour performance at 6pm on Wednesday (May 16) at Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany. Tix are $5.
BUT WAIT… Have we got a deal for you! We’re giving away A PAIR OF FREE TIX to the show to one lucky Nippertown reader! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winner will be selected at random and notified on Wednesday. Enter today! Good luck!
AND DON’T FORGET… We’re also giving away FREE TIX to two more shows at Valentine’s. Go here to win tix to Maaze with Ratdog saxman Kenny Brooks on Saturday night. Or go here to win tix to see the Dirt Daubers with the Slaughterhouse Chorus on Monday night. Who loves you, baby?
