MUSIC: Sheila Jordan & Friends @ the Eighth Step at Proctors, Schenectady. One of the last great veteran jazz singers steps into the spotlight with a crack band: bassist Cameron Brown, drummer Billy Drummond and pianist Ray Gallon. 7:30pm. $28.

FILM: “The Beat Hotel” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. This new film by Alan Govenar delves deep into the legacy of the American Beats in Paris during the heady years between 1957-1963, when Allen Ginsberg, Peter Orlovsky and Gregory Corso fled the obscenity trials in the U.S. surrounding the publication of Ginsberg’s poem “Howl.” 7:45pm. $7; students $5.

MUSIC: Dennis DeYoung @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. “Babe.” “Lady.” “Come Sail Away.” “Best of Times.” And, of course, “Mr. Roboto.” The former Styx keyboardist-vocalist serves up all the old hits and more. 8pm. $29.50, $39.50, $49.50 & $59.50.

MUSIC: Scotty Mac & the Rockin’ Bonnevilles @ Pauly’s Hotel, Albany. The Scotty Mac attack is back! Is this a limited time get-together or a full-scale reunion? FILM: “Wagner’s Dream” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Susan Froemke’s documentary captures the trials and tribulations as director Robert Lepage and the Metropolitan Opera take on the enormous challenge of staging opera’s most monumental work, Wagner’s Ring Cycle. 5:30pm. $10; students $4.50.

THEATER: “Glengarry Glen Ross” @ the Steamer No. 10 Theatre, Albany. The newly formed Mostly Harmless Theater Company presents David Mamet’s classic cut-throat drama with a co-ed cast. Directed by Rich Sagendorf and starring John Schmeiderer, Jeff Lurie, Katie Payne, Kelsy Nevins, Shera Dawn, Alain Ackerman and Rebecca Vavala. 8pm. $15. Also at 3 & 8pm on Saturday.
