With the passing of bluesman Ernie Williams last month at the age of 87, Nippertown lost one of its most enduring musical legends.
And while Williams is gone, he has certainly not been forgotten. As we first announced last week, a special Ernie Williams Tribute Concert: A Night of Music and Memories has been scheduled for Friday, June 1 at Revolution Hall at Brown’s Brewing Co. in Troy. Headlining the benefit concert will be the Ernie Williams Band, performing a retrospective of Ernie’s tunes in honor of their friend and band leader.
Leading up to the headliners will be performances by Captain Squeeze & the Zydeco Moshers, as well as the Bluz House Rockers. And don’t be too surprised if a number of other special guest musicians drop by to sit in and pay their musical respects, as well.
Doors will open at 7pm; the music is slated to start at 7:30pm.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Williams Family to help in their time of need, and a minimum donation of $10 per ticket is suggested. Advance tix can be purchased online or by mail at Williams Productions, PO Box 194, Cohoes, NY 12047. Checks should be made out to Williams Productions. Tix will also be available at the door.
Come out and celebrate the music and the life of a true Capital Region musical hero, Mr. Ernie Williams.
RIP: Ernie Williams, 1925-2012
