RIP: Dick Clark, 1929-2012

Few if any non-musicians had as potent and all-pervasive an impact on popular music and youth culture during the second half of the 20th century as Dick Clark, who passed away earlier today of a massive heart attack at the age of 82.

From “American Bandstand” to “The American Music Awards” to “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” he brought the music, the dances, the fashions and the trends of the day directly into homes all across America.

Interesting piece. He’d be married to someone else two or three years later.
Watched him on AB, Action, Pyramid, even some early bloopers show. He was EVERYWHERE.
