Win FREE TIX to Disappears @ Valentine’s, 4/18/12

One of the most anticipated shows of the spring concert season is coming up next week.

No, not Springsteen. We’re talking about Chicago post-punk rockers Disappears, who step into the spotlight at Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany on Wednesday night.

The band is on tour in support of their new album, “Pre Language” on Kranky Records, fueled by drummer Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth. Joining them at Valentine’s will be Kranky labelmate Lotus Plaza (the solo side project of Deerhunter guitarist Lockett Pundt), who just released his sophomore album, “Spooky Action At A Distance” earlier this month. And rounding out the night of adventurous sounds will be local underground supergroup and sonic explorers Location Ensemble in support of their new self-titled, live, debut disc.

Co-sponsored by UAlbany radio station WCDB-FM and Albany Sonic Arts Collective, Disappears invades Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany on Wednesday (April 18) with Lotus Plaza and Location Ensemble sharing the bill. Showtime is 8:30pm. Priced at $15, advance tix are available here.

BUT WAIT… We’ve got a deal for you! We’re giving away A PAIR OF FREE TIX to the show to one lucky Nippertown reader! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winner will be selected at random and notified on Wednesday. Enter today! Congratulations to the winner, who has been notified by email.
