MUSIC: John Zorn @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. The legendary avant-garde composer/performer gives a rare solo saxophone performance. 7:30pm. $18. UPDATE: This concert is sold out, however a live audio/video feed of the concert will be streaming in the EMPAC Cafe.

MUSIC: Lost Radio Rounders @ the Wyman Osterhout Community Center, Voorheesville. The folk duo of Tom Lindsay and Michael Eck debut a new program focusing on the War of 1812 for the New Scotland Historical Association. 7:30pm.

READING: Joseph Lelyveld @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center’s Recital Hall, Albany. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author and veteran journalist at The New York Times for nearly 40 years (and as executive editor from 1994-2001) reads from his most recent book, “Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle with India.” 8pm. FREE. Also a seminar at UAlbany Science Library’s Standish Room, Albany at 4:15pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Keith Pray’s Big Soul Ensemble @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady. Saxman Pray and his big band continue their first Tuesday of the month residency. 8pm. FREE.
