Born in Italy in 1963, composer Fausto Romitelli broke down the barriers between classical art music and popular music, utilizing distortion, saturation and psychedelic rock as key elements of his musical universe. This week the New York-based Talea Ensemble is arriving at EMPAC at RPI in Troy to make world premiere recordings of five of Romitelli’s works, concluding their residency with a concert of his music on Saturday night (March 31)

Saturday night’s concert will feature performances of:

“Domeniche alla periferia dell’impero” (2000) for violin, cello, flute, clarinet
“La sabbia del tempo” (1991) for violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, bassoon, keyboard
“Amok Koma” (2001) for violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, piano, percussion, keyboard, live electronics
“Nell’alto dei giorni immobili” (1990) for violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, piano
“Blood on the floor, Painting 1986” (2000) for two violins, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, electric guitar, keyboard
“Trash TV Trance” (2002) for electric guitar

Talea Ensemble plays “Music of Fausto Romitelli” at EMPAC at RPI, Troy at 8pm on Saturday (March 31). Tix are $18; students & seniors $13.

    This looks very interesting. There are some great Romitelli youtube videos to check out if anyone was considering attending. I know I am definitely looking forward to it now.

    I was hoping to get to this one, the program looks great, tho I admit I’m not familiar with the group, EMPAC is great, I’m sure it will be a memorable and surprising show…
