Hot on the heels of a knock-out production of “Jersey Boys” which closed last Sunday, Proctors in Schenectady announced the line-up of Broadway musicals for the theater’s upcoming 2012-2013 season with a rockin’ soiree on Tuesday evening.
More than 1,000 subscribers, potential subscribers and media representatives attended the invitation-only season announcement at the Mainstage at Proctors. After Proctors CEO Philip Morris welcomed the attendees, they were treated to a surprise, four-song performance by the current Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning show, “Million Dollar Quartet,” which is slated to land at the Schenectady theater in January.
Subscriptions to Proctors’ Broadway series are now available.
Here’s the five-show schedule for Proctors’ 2012-2013 season on Broadway musicals:
It’s supercalifragilistic! The classic 1964 Disney movie about the nanny and the chimney sweep comes to life on stage.
Back by popular demand, the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical that reveals the untold back-story of the witches of Oz returns after setting box office records during its previous run at Proctors in December, 2009-January, 2010.
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET
January 22–27, 2013
The Tony Award-winning musical was inspired by the true story of the famed recording session in which producer Sam Phillips brought rock icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins together for one unforgettable night.
PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT
February 12 – 17, 2013
Based on the 1994 film, the outrageously fun and funny musical fires up an eye-poppingly colorful story of a trio of friends on a road trip of a lifetime, who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship in the middle of the Australian outback fueled by a dance-til-you-drop disco soundtrack
April 30 – May 5, 2013
It’s the blockbuster 25th anniversary production of the beloved “Les Miz.” What more do you need to know?
